Original Oil Paintings by Robi

This months highlight art work is "Devil's Marbles". A piece depicting the hardness and strange nature of the Australian bush. It is a not figurative work but utilises the colour and form of the desert.
the work has only just come back from the "Private Lives" exhibition held in Brisbane.
It's beautifully framed and varnished.

I can't believe this is still happening!

We are now more then a decade into the 21st century yet in some parts of the world we are still back in the Middle Ages.
At the moment in Uganda there is a bill that is trying to get through parliament for the death penalty for being gay. How can we let such a thing happen? Whatever your beliefs are on homosexuality, the fact is that this is an abomination of basic human rights.

Hound your Foreign Minister. Email or Facebook your friends. It’s not that people don’t care, but most people don’t even know that this is happening! Let them know what you think of this. The more we get involved, the better chance we have of pressuring the Ugandan government to downturn this bill.

We have done this once before and we have managed to get them to hold off till Friday before it goes back before parliament.

This is the link to the petition page. It will only take 10 seconds of your time but will make a huge difference in bringing some parts of the world up to speed.

If countries want to participate in the global community than they need to know that there are standards around human rights that need to be upheld.

Reflections

This is one of my early works. It has been hanging in my living room for over three years. It was painted back when I was mainly painting in acrylic and shows the style starting to come out which would be begin to develop in my later paintings. I am now ready to let go and put it up for sale. I trust it will go to a good home.

A brief Bio

"Like most white collar middle class families growing up in Australia in the 60’s, we had the standard faded Albert Namatjira print hanging in the dining room. We were lucky in that we had not one but two. I remember thinking to myself, “I just don’t get it, what’s all the fuss”. Many years later I was browsing through a small highly priced gallery in Sydney and there sitting on the floor in the corner, something amazing caught my eye. It was an original Namatjira and it was stunning. I finally got what the fuss was all about! I had never seen the bush in such beautiful and depth of colour. I look at this as the start of my love of art.
I have been painting now for nearly 4 years and have been fortunate to have several exhibitions of my work on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.
I only use oils, as this gives me more freedom to move the paint around and allow the work to give hints on what it wants next.
Although I have a rough idea of what the work will look like when finished, the truth is that through the process of painting it always ends up taking on a life of its own.
I am not a figurative artist. Nor do I try to be. But rather I like to distort the figures, change around the colours and let the work breathe."
I hope you enjoy this work. Cheers, Robi
